Melbourne
Melbourne is the second largest Australian city and the capital of Victoria. It is considered to be the best Australian city to live; much better than Sydney.
Melbourne is famous for its Formula 1 track as well as tennis courts where Australian Open is held every year. Both events are held in the middle of Australian summer and are considered to be one of the most important sport events in Australia. It was January 2009 when Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer battled for 2009 Australian Open. Nadal was the winner and Federer was crying in front of the cameras. Melbourne is also known for its biggest Australian Cricket Stadium. It is called Melbourne Cricket Ground.
The city is also known for its tram network. It is the only major Australian city that still has them. The City Circle tram is the most known. It is a free service that goes around the CBD and close to major city attractions. These include Bunjilaka Aboriginal Centre, Immigration Museum, Crown Entertainment Complex, Melbourne Maritime Museum ‘Home of the Polly Woodside’, Old Treasury Building or Melbourne ZOO. Even balloon flights over Melbourne are organized for tourists’ entertainment! Apparently the city is full of cultural variety, various restaurants and pubs. It also has its own Chinatown and food market. For the ones enjoying beauty of nature Royal Botanic Gardens are the best choice. They are located near CBD and adjoined with Kings Domain including La Trobbe’s Cottage – First Government House.
Among its tourist attractions there are also tours and cruises around the city. Also, there are many more places in Victoria which are worth seeing. These include Geelong, Mildura, Ashcombe Maze & Watergardens or Health Spas and Mineral Springs of Daylesford.
